How to Choose the Right Foundation for Oily Skin

Disclaimer: I am not a pro makeup artist or beauty guru. These are just my opinion since I also have oily skin.

Choosing the best foundation for oily skin has been always a tough job due to the skin nature of each people. The nice thing about foundation is that there’s a formula specifically suited to every kind of skin type and of course budget. The only way to figure out the foundation that most suits with your skin is to test them out.

When choosing the right foundation for those who have oily skin like me, consider the noncomedogenic (i.e., not pore-clogging), oil-absorbing, oil-free formulas with a dry-touch matte finish.
Here are some things to consider when you opt for a foundation that has light to full coverage.
For Sheer Coverage
  • You will need liquid to powder foundation. A foundation that is blendable, in liquid form but once applied, turns into a mattifying powdery finish.
  • You can use a brush or an egg-shaped sponge to cover blemishes and smoothen skin.
For Medium Coverage
  • A whipped foundation, a lighter weight is a great alternative to powder. It has a matte-drying texture, fast-absorbing that gives you medium coverage.
  • Blend a light layer using your foundation brush moving from the center of the face outward.
For Full Coverage
  • The dry minerals in a pressed-powder foundation soak up excess oil. Look for a full coverage powder because it contains high level of pigment to conceal breakouts and redness.
  • Use a kabuki brush when applying. Swirl the brush into the powder and apply lightly onto skin.

I hope these tips will guide you guys in choosing the right foundation for oily skin. Thank you for reading! XOXO
